Take That have shown off their comic side - for charity.
Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Howard Donald sported giant red noses, creating a fetching new look.

The comeback kings, set to land their second number one single since their return this weekend with Shine, have announced that they will be performing live on the Friday-night Red Nose Day TV extravaganza on March 16.

Other performers include Ricky Gervais, Catherine Tate, Little Britain stars Matt Lucas and David Walliams, and Sacha Baron Cohen.

The Big One, which kicks-off on BBC1 before moving to BBC2, is the culmination of events to raise money for the fight against poverty in Africa and in the UK.

Presenters on the night itself will include Jonathan Ross, Russell Brand, Lenny Henry, Davina McCall, Graham Norton, Chris Evans, Paul O'Grady, Fearne Cotton and Kate Thornton.

Jade Goody was also meant to take part, but was axed from Comic Relief in the wake of the Celebrity Big Brother race row.

The £1 noses - the largest they have ever been - can be found at Sainsbury's, Oxfam, and online at www.rednoseday.com, with at least 60p going to Comic Relief.

A Comic Relief spokesperson said: "Take That have grown up with Red Nose Day and were more than happy to model The Big One.

Take two
March 01, 2007 12:00am

GARY Barlow knows how to take pop's ups and downs, writes CAMERON ADAMS

IT'S Christmas 2006.

Take That, the boy band everyone wrote off after Robbie Williams left, are atop the British singles and album charts.

They've sold out stadiums as part of their comeback, and their single Patience has spent a month at No.1.

By comparison, Williams' album Rudebox is struggling on the chart.

Rewind 10 years.

Take That split in 1996, only months after Williams famously jettisoned himself from the band after continually breaking their conduct guidelines.

It was all mapped out for Gary Barlow.

He wrote the songs for Take That and he'd be the solo star once they were kaput.

But there was a glitch -- named Robbie Williams.

Though Barlow got the first solo No.1 in Britain, Williams' anthem Angels effectively ended his former bandmate's solo career.

Suddenly Robbie was the star.

His records shot to the top, his yo-yo rehab jaunts made him a press darling and he wasn't only happy to be played up against Barlow in the media, he provided the ammunition in the war by constantly slagging off his former friend.

Barlow was yesterday's news.

His second solo album limped into the chart so poorly in 1999 that soon after it hit stores he was dropped by his record label, the same label for which he'd sold millions as part of Take That.

Barlow was depressed.

He moved behind the scenes, becoming a songwriter for hire.

But Barlow's name was mud.

He wrote songs with members of Steps, who asked him to keep his involvement quiet.

Victoria Beckham wrote songs at Barlow's house yet denied point black they'd worked together when asked by the press.

Barlow, the man who'd written a string of British No.1 singles, was a musical leper.

"That was a tricky time," Barlow says.

"I've always been very serious about music and thought of myself as someone with good musical taste who could write good songs.

"It got to a point when I realised that doesn't matter, all that work I've put into being a musician and a real songwriter is irrelevant. At that point I could have written a No.1 record and nobody would have wanted to know because it would have had my name attached to it. That's quite a difficult pill to swallow, that one.

"Unfortunately that's this industry, it's built on being new and current and exciting. When you're none of those things you have to take a break, that's the reality."

Barlow stayed at home and watched Williams become a superstar in the UK.

"I'd lost my deal and I was watching him go from strength to strength," Barlow recalls.

"I can't ever forget when you're dropped and you watch someone's career go off skyward. And it just carried on for such a long time, that bitterness. I really felt like I was being kicked when I was down and I couldn't defend myself. I found that quite disturbing, the length of time it went on."

Barlow started analysing his solo career.

"I'd lost touch with my audience. I underestimated how good the music needed to be."

Barlow was a big star in Take That. He was even bigger when he left the band, but not in the way he planned.

Barlow's defence mechanism was to rebel against his past. He was always the one who couldn't dance in Take That, the one they used to call chubby.
So he took it to the extreme, comfort eating and moping around the house.

A move to LA to escape the Robbie hysteria of the UK saw him team with songwriter Eliot Kennedy, a fellow lover of fine food.

At his worst, Barlow was wearing XXXL tracksuits and tipped the scale at 105kg.

"I went to a doctor who told me I was clinically obese," Barlow says.

"After I was dropped from the record label I thought 'OK, that's it, I don't need to look good any more' and I almost deliberately started putting weight on.

"It took me quite a while before I thought 'Hang on, the bigger you get the smaller you feel inside'. I had a wife not impressed by this and I felt awful having to keep buying bigger and bigger clothes. It took me a while to realise that. I think when you do it's a big moment in your life."

Barlow says in retrospect his weight gain was to spite the pop star he used to be.

"It was in rebellion to the fact I used to show up for video shoots and the clothes wouldn't fit because I'd put on a couple of pounds. I'd have to spend the next week hardly eating. That's difficult. I'm very prone to putting on weight.

"When people are watching and judging you every time you put on clothes, that's hard. It doesn't help that all the others are so f---ing thin. They all look so good all the time.

"It's just in my genes. If someone walks past me with a plate of chips I put on two pounds immediately without even eating them.

"It took me a while to find an angle in being in music again, it was quite a depressing time."

After writing songs -- this time publicly -- for Delta Goodrem, Blue, Atomic Kitten, Charlotte Church and even Donny Osmond, Barlow's confidence was being rebuilt.

He'd married Take That dancer Dawn and had two children.

But he wasn't completely happy out of the limelight.

"I has happy behind the scenes for a while, definitely. Our children were young, I could be at home. But always in the back of my mind I hoped it wouldn't last forever. It was definitely a temporary measure, not something I saw myself doing forever."

In 2005 a documentary, Take That for the Record, tried to reunite the band for the first time in the one room.

In the TV special Barlow and bandmates Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Howard Donald meet, but Williams declined the offer.

He was interviewed, alone, and made his peace with Barlow after years of tension, albeit on camera, not in person.

The ratings for the documentary went through the roof in Britain. A greatest-hits compilation -- originally planned as a budget release to be sold in supermarkets -- topped the charts.

The four members of Take That announced they would reform for a British tour.

The initial 11 dates sold out in minutes. Thirty more, including dates upgraded to stadiums, also sold out.

There was talk they'd record a new album, but Barlow wasn't so sure.

"We were planning on ending the tour and that was it, no one saw it going any further."

However, offers from Universal and Sony BMG came in for a new Take That album.

The foursome booked a studio for three weeks to see if they could even work together.

The only provision this time around was, rather than Barlow writing all the songs, as he had done in Take That Mk1, there would be musical democracy.

The second wind of success wasn't lost on Barlow.

"The first time around I got blase, we all did," Barlow says.

"You think whenever you sit down at the piano whatever you write is going to turn to platinum.

It all happened so early on in my life that it had to happen.

I had to hit that low for me to be able to appreciate this properly. I needed that.

"I'm glad it happened, actually. It didn't feel good at the time, but I'm glad it happened."

One song came early in the recording sessions, a joint composition called Patience.

"I've worked as a writer and a producer for six years and those records don't come around very often," Barlow says.

"When you hear them you go 'Oh my God, that's enormous'.

I knew that one song alone could launch the band again."

He was right.

The classy ballad shaped the sound of their comeback album, Beautiful World.

It was designed to be grown-up pop, miles away from the dance tracks with which they found fame.

"We could have gone down the Justin Timberlake route and found someone like Pharrell and done the poppy dance routine, but we felt we were too old to do that and it'd just look stupid," Barlow says.

"We decided to go for a real classic English sound -- ELO, Beatles -- rather than try to be really current. We decided we weren't going to make music we didn't like. Last time around, especially early on, we didn't like some of the songs we made.

"So we decided every song on this album we had to all like, it had to be something we'd buy ourselves. I feel like this is a 35-year-old's record. I would buy a record that sounds like this. I'm proud of that."

BARLOW even wrote a book, My Take, to document his side of the Take That story.

"So much of the book is built on failure and disappointment," Barlow says. "That's what's been so amazing about this reunion. We were really lucky to have success the first time around, but to have it again, God, it really is incredible.

"I come at this this time around with a completely different attitude. I'm so appreciative of anyone who gives us any time or positivity.

I know how hard it is to be in this industry.

"We're all experienced enough to know this is our moment right now. We're enjoying it because of that reason. It could be six months or 12 months if you're really lucky, then someone else will be filling our shoes."

Take That eclipsing Robbie on the British charts, however, is another thing altogether.

"I would never have predicted that," Barlow says.

"He was bigger than Take That ever were. I'd never thought we'd be in the position we are now. I guess it goes to show there's nothing more unpredictable than the music industry.

"It doesn't feel good at the time, nobody ever wants it. Robbie's right now having a little reality check. His new album's not sold anywhere near what his other albums have. He's had a reality check and it's really good for artists to get that.

"My career recently had been built on disappointment. So when good things happen, little bits of luck, it's a good feeling."

Williams is now in contact with all the members of his former band, and Barlow says a reunion in some fashion is so "inevitable" he'd be "disappointed if it doesn't happen".

Williams has said he loves the new album.

"We met Rob while we were on tour;

I exchange emails; a couple of the guys get texts from him," Barlow says.

"We are on a really good note with him right now. I'm guessing that's because of our ages. We're all at an age when there's no point, there's enough trouble in the world.

"We're in the entertainment industry. We spent years together on the road.

"Though a lot of people around me are saying 'Look, you've outsold Robbie', I don't take any enjoyment from that at all. He's a very talented artist. It's incredible he's been in this industry since he was 16 and he's still a massive figure.

Having Robbie sing a few numbers would be amazing

I had a wife not impressed by this and I felt awful having to keep buying bigger and bigger clothes.

He's had a reality check and it's really good for artists to get that.

Take That concert tickets sell-out
(Friday March 02, 2007 12:58 AM)

Take That have proved that they are Back For Good with dates on their Beautiful World tour selling out in record time.

Thousands of fans camped out at venues overnight to snap-up tickets for the 22-date arena tour.

Six extra nights have now been added to meet demand to see the reformed boy-band.

Tickets went on sale at 9am on Friday, causing credit card phone lines to jam.

Ticketmaster's website crashed as fans logged on to bag tickets.

Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Howard Donald enjoyed a rapturous reception during their comeback tour last year.

The whole tour sold-out in record time.

A new album, Beautiful World, and single, Patience, which scooped a Best British Single Award at the Brits, both reached number one in the charts.

This time, five nights at Birmingham's NEC sold out in less than an hour, setting a record, according to tour spokeswoman Maria Barham.

Six extra dates have been added - three at the Millennium Dome, now called The 02, in London, and three at the MEN Arena.

Take That fans show Patience
7.57, Fri Mar 2 2007

Take That fans queued overnight in Manchester to snap up tickets for the band's latest tour.

Fans snapped up 370,000 tickets in less than three hours, with the initial 22 dates sold out in under two hours and six more shows added at 11am sold out by noon.

Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange have enjoyed a successful reunion, and their single Patience was voted best song of 2006 at the Brit Awards.

The band are currently on a promotional visit to Japan.

Mark said: "It's really surreal to hear the news from the UK''.

"We are all totally overwhelmed, and also a bit nervous. We're trying to celebrate but we're all a bit jet-lagged."

The boys will play dates in Birmingham, Glasgow, Newcastle, London and Manchester in November and December.

£800+ for Take That tickets
FANS of Take That have been left furious after missing out on tickets for their sell-out shows in Manchester – only for them to go on sale at ten times their value on internet auction sites.
Within an hour of tickets for the dates in December going on sale at 9am yesterday, dozens of the £45 tickets were on sale on eBay and other auction sites for more than £800 a pair.
Manager of the band, Jonathan Wild, has now urged fans not to buy tickets from internet sites.

Demand for tickets was so great that hundreds of fans camped out at the M.E.N. Arena box office for up to two days and official ticket internet and phone lines were jammed and crashed – leaving thousands of disappointed fans facing paying sky high prices on internet sites.
Fans have accused the ‘internet touts’ of ‘extortion’ and have called on eBay to ban the profiteers. Tickets for the original eight shows in December sold out within two hours, so concert organisers added another three dates. But those too sold out at 11am yesterday – smashing box office records.
Support
Mr Wild said: “It is beyond our control. It’s something that the band are keen to address, but there is little we can do. I can only suggest that people do not buy tickets off eBay.
“Take That have always been renowned for their live shows and the public support and loyalty from fans is tremendous and has encouraged the band to carry on. To those lucky enough to secure tickets, on behalf of the band, I’d like to thank them for their unbelievable support.”
The first fans carrying sleeping bags, chairs and mattresses, arrived at the Arena box office on Wednesday morning – 48 hours before tickets went on sale. When they quickly sold out, three more dates were added – making an unprecedented 11 consecutive nights at the Arena for one artist or band.
Within a few hours of tickets going on sale dozens of pairs tickets for the Manchester shows were being offered for sale for more than £800 – almost ten times their face value.
Sara Foster, from Farnworth, tried unsuccessfully to get tickets for her 14-year-old daughter Kendal and a friend.
She said: “I logged on the internet before 9am and also had the telephone on constant dial. The telephone message said I could not get through because of the volume of calls and on the internet I got through a certain way, then it crashed.
“I cannot believe the prices being charged on eBay, I think eBay should ban it. These are people making a business out of selling tickets at the expense of genuine fans, its extortion.”
Kellie Lacey, 30, from Rochdale, also tried both phone and internet to obtain tickets without success.
She said: “It’s disgusting. I checked eBay at 10 o’clock and there were five pages worth of tickets for sale, it’s completely wrong. Ebay should not allow it, they should kick these people off. Genuine fans cannot go to the concerts unless they are prepared to pay over the odds.”
A spokesman for eBay said: “We operate within the law, and we cannot stop people selling what they want to sell as long as it’s legal. Once tickets have been purchased by someone they are their property to do with as they will.”
Touts
Take That concert promoter, Simon Moran, of Manchester-based SJM Concerts, said that tickets were restricted to six per person to try to stop touts, but still allow families to go together.
“Tickets were on sale at £45 and £25. The band could have charged more, but wanted to give people who perhaps haven’t got a lot of money the chance to see them, so it’s a shame when people profiteer on the back of it.”
John Knight, Arena general manager, said the demand for tickets was a record for the Arena.
“Take That have broken their own record which was 10 consecutive nights during their first tour in 1995. The Arena is Europe’s biggest indoor entertainment venue and to sell this many tickets in any timescale, let alone within four hours, is incredible. The interest in Take That is phenomenal.”
The demand for tickets also caused problems for telephone companies. Directory assistance service 118 118 said it was engulfed by 25,000 callers before 11am ringing to find out who to call for tickets.
It said it received the largest number of directory calls ever taken for any entertainment event.
The previous record was held by the launch of the new production of The Sound Of Music, which triggered 15,000 calls, but over days, not hours.
Communications director William Ostrom said: “There is no denying Take That are as popular as they were in their heyday.
“The telephone frenzy created by the release of their latest concert tickets stands out as one of our busiest mornings since our launch.”
Is it right for tickets to turn up on ebay? Did you struggle to get hold of a ticket? Let us know below.

Просто doesn't make sense.

Mark's single-minded

NUMBER ONE: Mark Owen

TAKE That star Mark Owen has plenty to smile about at the moment - but he admits the past week has given him some nervous jitters.

Oldham-raised Mark sings lead vocals on the comeback band's new single Shine that stormed straight to number one on Sunday.

I spoke to Mark just as he and bandmates Gary Barlow, Jason Orange and Howard Donald were about to jet off to Japan for the latest round of promotion since their spectacular reunion last year.

They announced a new UK tour last week, with eight dates at Manchester's M.E.N. Arena selling out almost immediately. The boys have promised the `biggest and best' tour yet, and Mark has hinted that troubled former bandmate Robbie Williams may yet join them for some of their new dates.

He says: "Rob always knows that we'd love him to come back and join us. He's always been invited since the day we got back together. One day it will happen, I think."

The band decided to launch a new tour so soon after last year's spectacular `Ultimate Tour' because of the great critical and commercial acclaim of their new album, Beautiful World, says Mark.

"We're trying to get ideas together already, but April is when we start tour talk really. Last time we went off to Vegas for inspiration, and this time we're thinking of going off to Blackpool," he laughs.

And while we can expect the same `high energy' from the foursome - there might not be quite so much dancing.

"What we managed to do with the last tour, we managed to find the right balance. In the old days we used to prance around like idiots when Gary was singing Million Love Songs, dancing at 100 miles an hour while he was doing his lovely ballads, but I think we've learnt we don't need to do that on the ballads nowadays.

"We'll just pace it, and do what we feel is right. We don't want to force anything."

Mark says he and the rest of the band are looking forward to concluding the tour back home in Manchester.

He says: "Manchester is where we're from and when we're there there's always been an amazing feeling, it's always felt very electric. We've had to put all those nights on in Manchester because we have that many friends and family that all want to come along we've had to put some extra nights!"

Take That Want Williams Back In.

5th March 2007 02:01:01

Take That Want Williams Back In.... Reformed British pop group Take That have hinted former band member Robbie Williams may join them on their UK tour later this year (07).

The Never Forget hitmakers split in 1996 - a year after Williams quit the band - and reunited to record a new album, A Beautiful World, in early last year (06).

And the foursome have admitted they would love to have the Rudebox star - currently seeking therapy in the US for addiction to prescription drugs - join them on stage again.

Singer Howard Donald says, "It would be lovely to have Robbie join us and let's just say we're keeping in touch about it.

"Having Robbie on stage with is to sing a few numbers would be amazing and we'll have to wait and see if he's up for it. We certainly are."

Take That Wants Robbie Williams Back In 'Beautiful World'

Mar 4, 2007

Reformed British pop group Take That have hinted former band member Robbie Williams may join them on their UK tour later this year (07).

The Never Forget hitmakers split in 1996 - a year after Williams quit the band - and reunited to record a new album, A Beautiful World, in early last year (06).

And the foursome have admitted they would love to have the Rudebox star - currently seeking therapy in the US for addiction to prescription drugs - join them on stage again.

Take That return

They said they'd be back... Fab four play two shows at the Odyssey in October

Wednesday, March 07, 2007

By Maureen Coleman

Comeback kings Take That are set to play a double date at Belfast's Odyssey Arena this autumn, it was confirmed last night.

The Brit Award winners will play the Arena on October 14 and 15 as part of their Beautiful World tour.

Tickets to see the fab four will be released this Saturday, March 10, and are expected to sell out within minutes of going on sale.

The band recently added an extra seven dates to their UK itinerary after shows sold out in record time.

The two dates in Belfast are the only Irish shows which Take That are staging as part of this tour.

Last May the reunited pop group played a sell-out show at the Odyssey and promised their fans that they would be back in Belfast.

Gary, Mark, Howard and Jason returned to the spotlight early last year after a high profile split which caused a storm among tens of thousands of fans across the world.

Their comeback single, Patience, went straight to number one and their album, Beautiful World, also topped the charts.

The band's latest single, Shine, also went to number one. Last month they won the Brit Award for Best Single with Patience, beating Northern Ireland's hotly tipped Snow Patrol.

The forthcoming tour has proved so popular that the boys will play 11 dates in Manchester and eight in London.

Tickets for seats at their Belfast show are £49, £38 and £27.50, and £38 to stand.

Oldham-born Mark delighted to ‘Shine’

OLDHAMER Mark Owen is celebrating a record-breaking week which provided spectacular proof that he and his Take That mates really are ‘Back For Good’.

Last Friday, fans snapped up all 370,000 tickets for the band’s latest tour in a frenzy that lasted just three hours and caused websites and credit card phone lines to crash.

And that was capped by their new single ‘Shine’ – on which Mark sings lead vocals on – sailing straight to Number One.

Click here to find out more!

"I don’t know whether it’s because I’m singing it but I’ve been feeling the pressure this week," he said. "I think when you’re singing the song you’re like ‘Oh God’, you feel a bit more pressure. Hopefully it will do well. I know it’s been doing quite well on the radio – my dad says he’s always hearing it back home."

The band’s 29-date tour will cap what is sure to be memorable and busy year for Owen.

The former St Augustine’s pupil and Copster Hill Road resident – who once worked in Zutti’s clothes shop on Yorkshire Street – became a dad for the first time last October after his actress girlfriend, Emma Ferguson, gave birth to Elwood Jack Owen.

The pair now plan to wed this summer – if he can fit it into his increasingly hectic schedule.

The boys are promising their "biggest and best" tour yet and Mark again hinted that troubled former member Robbie Williams – currently in rehab battling drug addiction – may yet join them for some of the dates.

"Rob always knows that we’d love him to come back and join us," he said. "He’s always been invited since the day we got back together. One day it will happen, I think."

The band opted to launch a new tour so soon after last year’s spectacular ‘Ultimate Tour’ because of great critical and commercial acclaim for their new album, ‘Beautiful World’, said Mark.

"We’re trying to get ideas together already but April is when we start tour talk," he said.

"Last time we went to Vegas for inspiration and this time we’re thinking of going to Blackpool!"

Mark added that what he and the band are looking forward to most of all is concluding the tour back home in Manchester.

"Manchester is where we’re from and when we’re there there’s always been an amazing feeling – it’s always felt very electric," he said.

"We’ve had to put all those nights on in Manchester because we have that many friends and family that want to come along we’ve had to put on some extra nights."

Actually I'm not sure that it's a good idea. I like Robbie, I admire his talent, I've bought some of his albums, but I can't imagine him as the TT member now.

TAKE THAT star JASON ORANGE still manages to look good after a long flight to Australia – unlike bandmate GARY BARLOW.

The boys hid behind dark shades as they landed in Sydney on a promo tour, to be greeted by autograph hunters.

Jason was Shiny and fresh as a daisy but Gary and HOWARD DONALD looked like they needed a kip. MARK OWEN was chipper as always.

Boy band's Robbie dilemma

TAKE That fans may need a little patience if they're expecting a reunion with former band member and now solo pop superstar Robbie Williams.

The British boy band, who got back together last year, revealed in an exclusive chat with The Sunday Mail in Brisbane yesterday that they don't see eye to eye on a reconciliation.

Jason Orange , said he had "high hopes" and asked Robbie about a reunion "all the time".

"I really want him to," Orange said. "I think it would be good for him, for us and for Take That."

But co-band member Howard Donald said: "I think it could be a big mistake. We don't know Robbie. Even though Jason calls him or Gary (Barlow) might email him, we don't know him, we really don't."

Reunion disputes aside, the band – Barlow, Donald, Orange and Mark Owen – have had a storming return to the charts. On the same day they won a Best Single Brit Award for their hit Patience, Williams was admitted to rehab. While his solo album Rudebox flounders on the charts, Take That sold out a UK tour in minutes.

On a promotional tour to support their UK No. 1 album Beautiful World, the boys performed at a VIP B105 party at Movie World on the Gold Coast last night. They will sign copies of their album at the Queen Street Mall upper stage today.

Now in their mid-30s and three of them fathers, they admitted their return to the pop scene was less hyped than in their heyday.

Just four fans were waiting at Sydney airport when they arrived last week.

Gary Barlow's US rant
Gary Barlow's US rant
Gary Barlow says Americans are "vile".
The Take That singer has revealed he doesn't enjoy visiting the US because of the people he meets over there.
Gary told Britain's OK! magazine: "When you go to the States they're vile. I'm so over America. Hate it!"

Gary, who recently visited a South African centre for homeless children, won the kids over by performing the band's hit singles.
He said: "There was me Mr Englishman, wandering in with the film crew and I could just imagine they were thinking 'what's this fool doing here?'
"It wasn't going great, then the teacher suggested I play their old piano. I went into 'Patience' and as I hit the chorus they all looked at each other because they'd heard it on the radio. They opened up then."

Gary Barlow Is Confident Of Robbie's Return

Gary Barlow is confident that former band mate and hugely successful (though dwindling in popularity) solo artist Robbie Williams will rejoin Take That.

Barlow told The People that he and the other guys met with Robbie while on tour and they're on good terms (read: not at each other's throats).

"If I'm really, really honest we wouldn't have had a chance to be Take That again if it wasn't for him still being a successful artist, we wouldn't have this second chance if he wasn't out there," he said.

Robbie Williams broke free from the boyband, openly mocking them on stage ("Sing the backing vocals, that's all I f*cking did!" he would tell the audience as his new band played Take That's 'Back For Good')

He became one of the most successful solo artists in history (although never breaking America) with 'Sing When You're Winning' being considered his high point.

When songwriting collaborator Guy Chambers left the Williams ship, it began to sink, slowly.

However, during the relatively short voyage, Williams revealed that Take That's management was run like a slave labor camp and Williams had ticks against him from management for drug use, using bad language in the press or not being dressed appropriately.

So with this in mind, can someone please explain to me exactly how Take That became "cool" again?

Gary Barlow has claimed it is “inevitable” Robbie Williams will appear with Take That again.

Despite the pair’s differences after Robbie quit the band in the mid-nineties, Barlow believes the massive success of Take That’s reunion means Robbie will take to the stage with them once more.

He tells The People he is now reconciled with Robbie, who is currently in rehab in America, “We met him while on tour and I exchange emails. A couple of the guys get texts from him and we're on a really good note with him."

Gary also acknowledged that Take That were only able to reform because of Williams’ successful solo career.

He said, “If I'm really, really honest we wouldn't have had a chance to be Take That again if it wasn't for him still being a successful artist - we wouldn't have this second chance if he wasn't out there."

Robbie will have plenty of opportunity to make a 'surprise' appearance with his old band - they've just sold out a new 29 date tour.

Should Robbie sing with Take That again?

Yes, it would be fantastic
No, who needs that loser?

Wad's up with you, Robbie?

March 12, 2007

COMMENT ON THIS STORY
[/img]HERE’S ROBBIE WILLIAMS in a dodgy long coat that makes him look like a member of Seventies group SHOWADDYWADDY.

He went for the retro teddy boy look to feed his new habit – partying in Hollywood.

Rob has been out every night since leaving rehab a week ago.

Back in the UK, though, there was little to celebrate.

His new single She’s Madonna only managed to limp in at No16 in the chart.

Pleased to see you’re not letting it get you down Rob – but I’m still not sure about the jacket.

If you’re really that desperate to join a band, I hear TAKE THAT have reformed.

Shine's off Robbie Williams

REFORMED British manband Take That is worried about the impact its second wave of success will have on former member Robbie Williams.

The catty British press has noted while Take That's Shine is its 10th British No. 1, Williams' She's Madonna has struggled to debut at No. 16, only his third solo single to miss the top 10.
Take That's Beautiful World album has sold a million copies in Britain, while Williams' Rudebox has floundered in the charts.

His former band members say the British backlash will be hurting Williams, who is fresh out of rehab to kick an addiction to anti-depressants.

"We didn't like it happening to us when it was the other way around. It's not very nice," Gary Barlow told Herald Sun music editor Cameron Adams yesterday of the bad press.

"We do care for Rob. This is exactly what he doesn't need right now. He's a media junkie, he reads everything. But he's very talented, he is ambitious and driven. He'll be back. He will."

Owen, one of Williams' closest friends, says the star is "happy and well" post-rehab.

"Sometimes I think if I was him I'd just leave it all alone, I couldn't be a@#*ed," Owen said.

"Sometimes I think he should just bugger off and live a happy life but he won't because he loves entertaining and he's good at it."

The band has kept the door open for a reunion with Williams.

"We'd love it," Owen said.

Take That was in Melbourne yesterday for a whirlwind promotional visit.

A tentative performance on Dancing with the Stars was scrapped because the show is waiting until later in the series to feature musical acts.

After shunning Take That's British No. 1 Patience for three months, local radio stations are embracing the single.

If record sales pick up, the band hopes to tour early next year

Take 40 Exclusive - Take That Want to Perform with Robbie
Take 40 Exclusive - Take That Want to Perform with Robbie

When the Take That boys popped in for a chat this week, we asked them how their pal, ex-bandmate Robbie Williams is doing after his stint in rehab.

Gary Barlow says that they've all been in contact with Robbie and "he's doing alright".

The guys said they'd love to have Robbie come and perform with them again. "I'd love him to pop up at a gig," says Barlow. "It'd be great for us; it'd be great for him, amazing for the fans as well. He'd be so welcome."

Rumours have been rife lately that the band will be doing a supposed Take That musical, titled 'Never Forget'. We got the boys to set the record straight, and they said "we cringed when we heard that!" The production is apparently a tribute to the smash hit boy band and will run a short season in the UK.

OWEN: 'WILLIAMS SHOULD RETIRE TO A HAPPY LIFE'
TAKE THAT star MARK OWEN believes his former bandmate ROBBIE WILLIAMS should retire from pop and just enjoy life, because the music industry has taken its toll on the singer. Williams, 33, completed a stay in a rehab clinic in Arizona earlier this month (MAR07) to tackle his addictions to caffeine and prescription medicine. But Owen knows Williams won't heed his advice - because he lives for the stage. He says, "Sometimes I think he should go off and live a happy life. But he won't because he loves entertaining - and he's good at it."

ZOE: TAKE HER TO TUSC
MY congrats to Take That cutie Mark Owen and his girlfriend Emma Ferguson, who have just got engaged. I can now reveal they are planning a low-key ceremony in Tuscany in the summer. My news that Mark is off the singles market will no doubt bring a tear to the eye of teenage girls around the country, and also to Robbie Williams. I hear he has been left off the invitation list.
WHEN Lily Allen puts her size 6s in it - which, let's face it, has happened quite frequently recently - she can always apologise on her blog. "Apparently I said all Americans are backward in some interview," Lily posted yesterday. "While some Americans probably are, I must have been drunk and showing off at the time."
